Before you arrive
Ahead of your visit, we'll send a short health and history form. It asks about any medical conditions, medications, past dental work, and — importantly — anything you're worried about. Filling it in beforehand means we can spend your appointment focused on you rather than paperwork.
On the day, arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in. Bring a list of any medications you take and your insurance details if you have them. If you're nervous, that's a great thing to mention the moment you walk in.
Getting to know you
Your visit starts with a conversation, not an instrument. We want to understand your goals, your concerns, and what brought you in — whether that's a specific problem, a fresh start after time away, or simply a routine checkup. This is your chance to tell us what matters to you, and to ask anything at all.
The examination
Next comes a gentle, thorough exam. We check your teeth for decay and wear, assess your gums for signs of disease, and look at how your bite fits together. We also carry out a quick oral cancer screening, which is a simple, painless, and genuinely important part of every checkup.
If needed, we'll take digital X-rays. These use very low radiation and let us see what the eye can't — between teeth, below the gumline, and around the roots. They help us catch small issues long before they become painful ones.
Your cleaning
If you're comfortable, we'll give your teeth a professional clean, removing the hardened plaque (tartar) that brushing can't shift, then polishing for a fresh, smooth finish. We go gently and check in with you throughout — and if you'd rather wait and build up to it, that's completely fine too.
Your personal plan
Before you leave, we'll walk you through everything we found in plain, jargon-free language. If something needs attention, we'll explain your options clearly — including what's urgent, what can wait, and what each choice involves — with absolutely no pressure. You'll leave knowing exactly where your smile stands and what the next steps are, if any.
How long does it take?
